  • We believe the ability to create a healthy community depends upon the health of all community residents, and that all people are entitled to support to develop and maintain their health. To promote a healthy community, the Family Resource Centre team strives to meet community needs by providing diverse and accessible information, as well as confidential support services to anyone who seeks them.

    The services are delivered with a compliment of 18 professional staff. Our present contracts require a level of professionalism achieved through a combination of university education in relevant Master, Degree, Diploma and Certificate programs and experience augmented with professional development to maintain best practice in the field of social work. The employees provide services through a number of modalities based upon the needs identified by our clientele.

    We seek employees who work from a client centered approach, and believe that clients have the right and capacity to determine how they would like to change their lives, and the strength to make those changes. Employees must work with integrity, have a passion for working with families and individuals in the field of social work and demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with other professionals in the community.   • Respite Worker

    Continuing Part-time Position

    Hours: as needed
    Shift schedule: Weekday and weekend days and evenings are required
    Location: Family Resource Centre of Invermere (FRC) catchment area
    Start date: August 1, 2013 (target)

    Duties: Provides support to individuals who have varying abilities in a residential setting by providing care during the day and evening hours ensuring their safety and wellbeing. Staff will provide support to help them relate in a socially appropriate manner through the use of daily routines and activities. This position requires that staff work collaboratively with the family, community and other agency staff to deliver these services.

    Accountability: The Respite Worker is accountable to the Director of Program Management or designate, and receives clinical supervision from the Clinical Supervisor provided by the Family Resource Centre.

    Qualifications: Preferably a diploma in a relevant discipline, with two years of related job experience. Other appropriate combinations of education and experience may be considered. A valid B.C. driver’s license is essential. The position is open to all male and female applicants. It requires union membership. Pursuant to provincial legislation, the applicant must agree to undergo a criminal records investigation.

    The Women’s Information and Safe Homes Program is presently in need of additional Safe Home Operators throughout the Valley, to provide accommodation and meals for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
